PRODUCTION
DARKEST DAY was started over 5 years ago by
DAN RICKARD as a small scale 30 minute short film. After a 2 year gap Dan decided to continue the project and attempt to finish the film. It was soon apparent that the film was way beyond the scope of a short and so became a feature. SIMON DRAKE joined as Producer soon after this. Having been shot and edited, the film is now in the later stages of post-production with the Sound, Music and Visual Effects being worked on at present.

THE TRAILERS The 2 trailers here are an example of the cinematography, visual effects and music of the film, achieved with almost no money. The music is done by WILX who is composing the score for the full film. The visual effects and grading are by the director Dan Rickard. The helicopter shot in both trailers is a visual effects shot using a combination of live model work and digital compositing. The trailers were edited by SAMANTHA BOLTER, who is also co-editor of the film.

SYNOPSIS
Dan wakes up on a beach with no memory. He discovers an evacuated city ravaged by a deadly virus, completely deserted apart from a small group of survivors who give him shelter. It soon becomes clear that the army are trying to hunt him down and his new friends are now in danger. Forced to evacuate the safety of their home they embark on an extremely dangerous journey to escape the city.
